What can we learn from National Dental Hygiene Month?

Keeping your mouth clean is worth celebrating! Since 2009, National Dental Hygiene Month has recognized good oral health and hygiene. It is easy for the month to fly by and to forget about the important aspects of why there is a whole month dedicated to commemorate dental hygiene. As we keep on going throughout our daily routine, let’s reflect on this past month of October!

Before we begin, National Dental Hygiene Month would be nothing without the dental hygienist’s who are dedicated to providing access to oral care and treatment. Hygienists address oral health topics such as:

  • Teeth Whitening
  • Periodontitis
  • Cavities
  • General Oral Care
  • Fluoride Treatment.

Everyone wants to walk around confidently with a stellar smile which is why we celebrate all month long. Hygienists play a huge role in making this happen!

So why does National Dental Hygiene Month matter?

It’s a reminder to take care of your oral health! It can be so easy to forget about flossing each day and brushing properly but keeping up with dental hygiene is important to overall good health. Also we get to say “thank you” for the hard work of our dental hygienists. Whether we go in for a routine check up or for a specific dental need, they are always there with a helping hand!

The best way to get the most out of National Dental Hygiene Month is to take care of your teeth all the time, not just in the month of October, or the week before your dental visit, or every now and then when it is convenient but rather making an organized routine and sticking to it!

As we continue to reflect on what this month of celebration means, call us today and schedule your appointment and bring a smile both to you and to our dental hygienists!
